Onboarding
This documentation aims to guide partners on how to onboard clients in the Beta version of Meta’s MM Lite API.
Before You Start
In MM Lite, we call onboarding the process where the client reviews and accepts the MM Lite API Terms of Service. Onboarding is always performed by the client at a WABA level.
There are currently two ways to onboard (detailed step-by-step below):
1. ES Onboarding (Recommended)
The client clicks a new onboarding link, logs into their Facebook account, selects the BM, and accepts the Terms of Service.
2. Intent API
The client receives a notification in their Business Manager under Settings > Requests to accept the terms. Can be used to onboard multiple BMs at once.
Please note: the Intent API notification with Terms of Service to onboard can only be sent once only, and we do not receive any confirmation (webhook or otherwise) if the client accepted it or not.
Pre-Onboarding Checklist
Before onboarding, make sure the your account meets all the following requirements:
Important Notes
MM Lite onboarding takes place in Business Manager and is configured at the WABA level.
The link will only work for users with Admin access to the business' BM.
Using Embedded Signup (ES)
Users can onboard their business to the MM Lite API using the Alpha-Beta-Onboarding service, when they already have an active account with 360dialog:
Log in and click “Add a new number”
When prompted, select the following options:
✅ Alpha callback
✅ Yes, this number is connected to WhatsApp Business API
✅ Yes, planning to send marketing messages from this number
Start the Embedded Signup (ES) process
When asked, select the correct Business Portfolio to continue
Accept the Terms of Service
Click "Finish"

Using Intent API
If you prefer not to use Embedded Signup, you can onboard via Intent API.
Here’s how it works:
Send an email to
[email protected]
In the email, include the list of BM IDs for which the onboarding requests should be sent.
Our team will reply back confirming once the request has been sent
After confirmation,
Once the requests are sent, the user (with Admin permissions in the Business Manager) should:
Find the MM Lite onboarding request
Click to view and accept the Terms of Service
Once accepted, MM Lite is active for that Business Manager.
Remember: Intent API onboarding notification can only be sent once, and we do not receive any confirmation (webhook or otherwise) if the request was accepted or not. If you need assistance with MM Lite permissions, please, email [email protected].
Completion
Once the ES process is completed:
All eligible WABAs in the Business Manager will be allowed to use MM Lite.
A read-only ad account will be created for each eligible WABA to show campaign results.
The onboarding takes up to 10 minutes after completing the ES process.
Any new WABAs added after onboarding will require a new ES process to enable MM Lite.
