What is the WhatsApp Business Platform?

The WhatsApp Business Platform is an API-based solution designed for medium and large businesses to communicate with customers at scale on WhatsApp. It enables automated messaging, customer support, notifications, and marketing through approved business accounts, while ensuring compliance with WhatsApp’s policies and user privacy standards.

How can I switch to a different phone number in the WhatsApp Business API?

You cannot directly swap or change a phone number in the WhatsApp Business API. To use a different number, you need to register the new number through the Embedded Signup flow. Once the new number is active and functioning, you can delete the old one if it’s no longer needed. Keep in mind that newly registered numbers start at the lowest messaging tier and are automatically upgraded based on usage over time.

What are the requirements for a business to be approved for the WhatsApp Business Platform?

To be approved, a business must comply with WhatsApp’s policies and ensure its use case aligns with WhatsApp's guidelines. Specifically, the business must adhere to:

Which countries are blocked from using the WhatsApp Business Platform?

There are some countries that WhatsApp excludes from communicating with WhatsApp for Business numbers. Phone numbers from the following countries are blocked:

  • Crimea (+7978)

  • Donetsk (+7856)

  • Luhansk (+7857)

  • Cuba (+53)

  • Iran (+98)

  • North Korea (+850)

  • Syria (+963)

  • Donetsk (+7856)

  • Luhansk (+7857)

Can I access the profile picture (avatar) of a WhatsApp user via the WhatsApp API?

No, the WhatsApp Business API does not provide access to a user's profile picture. This feature is not supported.

Does the server require internet access through ports 80 or 443?

Our servers communicate exclusively via secure HTTPS connections over port 443. Port 80 is not used or required.

Can a WhatsApp API number message another WhatsApp API number?

No, this is not possible. WhatsApp API accounts can only send messages to regular WhatsApp accounts or WhatsApp Business Account, not to other WhatsApp API accounts.

Will my clients receive direct communications from 360dialog?

Yes. 360dialog may send email notifications to your clients regarding password resets, new user registrations, number onboarding, and other account-related activities. If you don't want your clients to to receive any email from 360dialog, please reach out to our support team.
